How did you meet?

Michael and I met at my primary school best friend’s 6th birthday party and we would see each other at her gatherings over the years. After another one of our mutual friends 30th birthdays he ask me out on a date and the rest is history.

How did he propose?

It was our 3 year anniversary and we booked to go to a nice dinner at woodcut in the crown. When we arrived Michael took me in the opposite direction saying he needed to get something from the shop around the corner, as we were walking he said “let’s just go in here”, it was the Sydney aquarium. I was so confused as to what was happening but didn’t think anything of it as Michael always loved to plan surprises. He had planned a private dinner in the Sydney aquarium, it was so beautiful to have the calmness of the ocean and sea life swimming above us. I wanted the perfect photo, he set up the camera on the rocks and as he turned around he got down on one knee and asked the question I was not expecting that night, “Will you marry me?” Apart from our wedding day, that night was the most magical night of my life.

Tell us about your wedding dress journey at Kayrouz Bridal?

I had the most wonderful experience from start to finish. Kayrouz bridal was my first and last visit. I knew which dress I wanted a year before I actually got engaged. Nichole and her team were so friendly, inviting and very helpful throughout my whole experience, from picking my dress to the very last dress fitting. The warmth I felt from the moment I walked through the doors was enough for me to know I wanted to be a Kayrouz bride. I would have to say this was the most positive experience I have ever had and over all the best experience throughout all my wedding planning.

Which Berta gown did you say YES to and what made you fall in love with this gown?

I saw the 21-111 Berta Colony gown on Instagram a year before I got engaged and immediately fell in love. I knew if I ever got engaged, that was the gown I wanted to wear. I researched where I could find it, so that when I did get engaged I was prepared. The moment I tried this gown on in store, I didn’t want to take it off.

My gown made me feel like an enchanted princess. Soft, delicate and feminine. Everything a dress should be! Flattering in all the right places – a sweetheart neckline with a structured bodice and a soft full tulle skirt from the waist down. The subtle polka dot detailing throughout the fabric, contrasted yet complimented the style, while soft pleated spotted tulle draped off my shoulders to create the most elegant silhouette. Truly a dream Berta gown.

Tell us about your Venue and Wedding theme?

It was meant to be! Our wedding was held at the picturesque Bendooley Estate in Berrima, celebrated with our nearest and dearest. Autumn leaves and acoustics by the lake set the tone for our autumn garden ceremony, followed by reception in the stunning book barn. We wanted a simple yet effective enchanted wedding with candles, canopy greenery, fairy lights, dry ice and bubbles creating an enchanted magical feel. We drank, ate and danced the night away – it will be a day we will never forget.

What advice would you give to upcoming brides?

When it comes to your dress, if you know your style and you know what you want, go for it, don’t let anyone change your mind. Trust your gut, if it makes you feel comfortable and amazing, say yes to the dress!

Not everything will go to plan, go with the flow, it will be less stressful. Definitely invest in a wedding planner, they take a lot of the stress off you as well and have the resources to bring your vision to life.
